CROSS-CULTURAL Community-Based Parenting ASSESsMENTS
Our assessors have the cross-cultural experience needed to engage and work with BME families. This includes families who have migrated from their country of origin and are living in the UK and as a result, may struggle with the Eurocentric welfare system.

WE UNDERTAKE ASSESSMENTS OF BME FAMILIES WHEN:
- Allegations have been made of neglect, or of physical, emotional and sexual abuse.
- There are cultural issues – this may include myths, religious persuasions, trafficking, black magic, taboos or cultural practises like female genital mutilations (FGM).
- Language barriers, issues of isolation, disability, poverty or immigrations status, impacting on parenting.
- Issues of identity crisis (for example multi-racial children or migrant children), gangs, substance misuse, CSC, social inclusion impacting on children or young people.
Our assessors can speak the multiple languages needed for BME families and have experience working with translators. All assessors are from black and minority ethnic backgrounds and have developed expertise where an understanding of cultural, religious or identity issues may be a factor in assessment. We’re also able to provide assessors who specialise in PAMs training.

FORMAT OF ASSESSMENT:
Most referrers will provide a letter of instruction setting out the areas of concern they want addressed. We usually provide guidance to the referrers as to the sort of issues an assessment can typically resolve and aim to work in consultation with existing agencies who are involved in providing intervention programmes to BME families.
CCPA will work in partnership with the commissioned Local Authority and other agencies to achieve the best outcomes for children. We aim to read back files where there is a history and will provide preliminary findings at the mid-way stage of the assessment.
We aim to provide a CV upon request and will try to suit your requirements; our assessors are DBS checked and registered with Social Work England.
